So what does this mean for your small business? It means social can be a key to revenue generation. Here are three ways to make your small biz social-friendly:

1: Keep a list of your top “tweeps” – Who are your major influencers on Twitter? An easy way to source ideas for your business’ blog or social channels is to see what respected and influential leaders in your industry are buzzing about on social!

2: Listen up! – Take 15-30 minutes per day to monitor social conversation. Follow trending hashtags to venture out into the twitter-sphere in search of relevant articles and hot topics. Don’t forget to check in and take time to answer questions from your social community.  Who knows…they could be a potential customer or advocate on social for your business.

3: Set the tone – Assess your company’s brand. Focus on how you would like to be spoken to as a potential customer or business partner. Are you fun and light-hearted, sharp and concise, catchy and clever? Develop your language and monitor how your community engages.
