During the holidays, many of us feel the pressure of finding the perfect gifts for friends, family, and business partners. It’s only November, for goodness sake, yet I’m already receiving holiday cards and gifts from local businesses and even my friends and family. How do they find the time?
This year, I decided to get savvy and create an easy to make canvas print for a close friend. I know this will go perfectly next to a mantle at home.
For the business colleague or customer on your Christmas list, there are even more ways to personalize your canvas print! Have a customer testimonial or picture from a grand opening? They can fit nicely on a canvas print, and look great inside the office or near the front desk.[jetpack_subscription_form title="Subscribe to Out of Office:" subscribe_button="Sign Me Up"]
Step 1: What do you want to print? It can be as simple as a family photo, or custom art for the office. Just scan and print a treasured memento like a diploma, a customer testimonial or even your children’s artwork. All I did was choose a picture that I loved. If you want to incorporate a quote, there are simple software programs that can help you create a collage once you’ve gathered images, or FedEx Office can help you! Just bring your images in and ask a Team Member for help. FedEx Office can even pair you with a graphic designer if you want something special.
*A simple program that is easy to use is the Adobe Creative Suite. If you’re not familiar with that, there are plenty of other options online or already installed on your computer. Get creative!
Step 2: Make sure your design is the right size. I went with 16” x 20”, but they have other sizes available to fit what you need. If you want the color to wrap around the edges, set up what’s called a “bleed” by making the image a bit bigger.
Step 3: Make your order online using Print Online. You don’t even have to leave home! If you’re like me and want consultation and extra help, bring your design to your local FedEx Office using a storage device like a USB drive or a CD. A PDF file is probably easiest, but they can work with almost any picture file as long as it’s high quality.
Step 4: Once you’re in the store, the FedEx Office design team can handle the rest. At the store right next to my office, they downloaded my file almost instantly and even made sure I’d formatted everything correctly. Thanks to this extra attention to detail, you’re sure to get exactly what you’re expecting.
Step 5: Ready for the best part? FedEx Office can usually produce your canvas print in less than a day, including mounting it on a wooden frame so it stands out. I got a call when the print was ready, but I was able to pick it up at my convenience. Most stores are open late, so there’s no need to rush out of work early to grab the finished product. Easy as pie.
Also, don’t forget you can save 50% on ready-to-hang canvas prints now through 12/2.
I’m sharing this quick and easy craft idea with all of my friends this holiday season. Not only am I avoiding long lines at the mall, I’ve come up with a timeless, personalized gift. That’s a win-win in my book!
